Designing Eye-Catching Real Estate Door Hangers with Canva Templates
Real estate door hangers are not dead. They are among the most effective real estate direct mail marketing to reach local prospects. They build your image and generate leads in a particular geographical area.
And Canva is an excellent design tool for eye-catching real estate door hangers. You can easily follow these steps even if it’s your first time using the tool or you have zero template designing experience.
Step #1: Sign Up and Navigate Canva
If you don’t have a Canva account, go to www.canva.com and sign up for a free or premium account. Once logged in, explore the vast design template collections.
To find the templates for this project, type “real estate hanger door hanger” in the search bar. Then, browse through the different styles and layouts.
Step #2: Select Your Favorite Template
Canva offers various customizable real estate templates, including modern, minimalist, and classic designs. Since we want to show you how you can create a real estate door hanger from scratch and love its color, we picked this design. Then, click “Customize this Template” to start the design process.
Step #3: Change the Color
We didn’t change the Canva door hanger template’s color for this example. But if you have color ideas, click the template element you want to modify and click the color tile. The color suggestions panel will appear in the left-hand corner. You’ll see the Document, Default, and Custom Color options on the color menu. Then, click your preferred color tile from the panel.
Step #4: Change or Add an Image
We’ll add an image to make this template perfect for your real estate marketing. On the “Elements” tab, type your preferred image in the search bar. For this example, we searched “house.” Then, click and drag and drop the photo to the desired area. If this area has an existing text or image, delete it first. Click the area, and you’ll see a delete button. You can also change the photo’s color with the filter options.

Step #5: Customize the Texts
Once you’re happy with the image, modify the text. Canva lets you experiment with font size, spacing, and color. The text tools are located in the top left corner. You can include your phone number, email, address, social media, and a website you want to promote.
Step #6: Proofread and Review
Before hitting the download button, carefully proofread your door hanger to avoid any typos or missing information. Canva has a zoom tool at your workspace’s bottom right-hand corner. It allows you to see the template design’s entirety.
Step #7: Download the Door Hanger
Now that your real estate door hanger design is complete, you can download it. Click the “Share” > “Download” at the top right corner. Select your desired file format, like PNG, PDF, or JPEG. Finally, click the “Download” button and name the file. The file automatically saves to your device.
